In Memory of Jane Teranes
Jane Teranes was a climate champion and Scripps professor who passed away in July of 2022. Her tenacious work in climate change research and education inspired all those around her and will continue to do so through the UC San Diego's JTCCER.
Since 2019, Green New Deal @ UC San Diego student activists and faculty have called upon UC San Diego to institutionally mandate a climate change requirement. The Jane Teranes Climate Change Education Requirement, starting with the first-year cohort entering Fall 2024, will educate and equip UC San Diego students with the knowledge to combat the global challenge of climate change. The JTCCER courses are approved by the UC San Diego Academic Senate.
